About Us
Welcome to Levenshulme and District Allotments, situated at the end of Highfield Rd, Levenshulme, opposite the Highfield Country Park.
Our site is one of the biggest in the Manchester City Council area with over 200 plots, of varying shapes and sizes, and over 120 plotholders.
The land is owned by Manchester City Council and managed on their behalf by a committee with the help of volunteers.
Our Site
The site reflects the diversity, ages and gardening experience of the local community. We are very informal and friendly though there are both council and site rules that must be adhered to.
Our allotment site has individual plots which are separated by hedges and fences. Many of the plots have sheds and greenhouses / poly-tunnels.
Part of our site is dedicated to Tenants who keep livestock, being horses, poultry and birds etc.
There is an abundance of free manure available to all plot-holders courtesy of the stables on the animal side.
Our Hut
We have a secured building at the entrance to our site which is used for various functions.
It is open each Sunday Morning between 11.00am and 12.30pm providing an important meeting place with the facility of basic refreshments.
Also based in the Hut is our Society Shop which offers members basic gardening products including compost, garden tools, fertilisers etc. Find out more about our shop.
Outside the Hut entrance is our Members Notice Board which keeps everyone up to date with the latest news, notices, meetings and future events.
Our Plant Sale Greenhouse
This year has seen the building of a new greenhouse specifically for plant sales. We have seen a great increase in sales this year thanks almost completely to the commitment of Mary and her team of volunteers. We have a continuous need for volunteers to help with watering, potting on etc both at the weekend and during the week. If you can help please get in touch with us. Read more…
